Use it when
- The deal has more than three stakeholders.
- The sales cycle is longer than 60 days.
- Procurement or legal review is required.
- You must forecast the deal.
Watch out for
- Filling in fields without evidence.
- A Champion who has no power.
- Paper Process found in the last week of the quarter.
- Treating the checklist as the strategy.
Questions
- What number must improve, and by how much?
- Who signs the contract?
- How did you buy a similar product last time?
- Which team reviews security?
- What happens if you do nothing?
Example
An AE marks Economic Buyer as Developing. The VP Finance is known but has never joined a call. The next action is an introduction through the Champion before the business case review.

Challenger, SPIN Selling, Command of the Message
Strength
